Falling sales on platforms such as Temu and SHEIN in some European markets do not necessarily mean that European ecommerce is shrinking.

According to the 2026 European E-commerce Report published by Ecommerce Europe and EuroCommerce, European B2C ecommerce turnover reached €911 billion in 2025 and is forecast to grow by 5% to €961 billion in 2026.

Platforms are also changing how they operate. SHEIN opened its logistics center in Wrocław, Poland, in December 2025 as its main European logistics hub. Subsequent reporting described further investment in local European warehousing and a shift toward stocking smaller quantities with faster replenishment.

There is still room to grow in Europe, but sellers need a practical way to fulfill those orders. Holding selected products in Europe makes local dispatch possible. Before shipping anything, though, sellers need to settle a few questions:where to source the goods, how many units of each variant they must buy, how to prepare goods from different suppliers, and which warehouse will receive them.

Which Products Make Sense to Stock in Small Batches?

Start with your store’s actual order history. Identify the specific SKUs that sell consistently, then select a few to stock in Europe. Review each color, size, and specification separately; total sales for a product listing can hide differences between variants.

Begin with small quantities of SKUs that already generate repeat sales, then replenish as stock sells through. This helps limit excess inventory and the amount of cash tied up in unsold goods.

ZQ provides an estimated warehouse arrival timeframe and details of the consolidation and shipping schedule. Using that information alongside sales, stock on hand, and inbound inventory for each SKU, you decide how much to order and when to replenish. Each batch can stay small, but the replenishment lead time still needs to be built into your plan so the next shipment arrives before current stock runs out.

Once you have chosen the products and quantities, confirm that suppliers can fulfill those quantities and check the prices at each order level.

How Should Brands with Steady European Sales Plan Their Inventory?

If your brand already has steady European sales through its own online store, you can plan small-batch inventory alongside branded packaging and replenishment for other sales channels. Beyond the products themselves, you may need consistent packaging, labels, or package inserts. Share these requirements with ZQ during sourcing and preparation at our China warehouse. We can complete the agreed work before consolidating the goods for shipment to Europe.

Once your goods arrive at ZQ’s Netherlands warehouse, we can fulfill customer orders from your online store. If you also sell on Amazon, BOL, or other channels, we can prepare goods to the relevant platform’s requirements and arrange delivery to its warehouse. Plan quantities and costs separately for individual store orders and platform warehouse replenishment, and allocate inventory to each use in advance so the same units are not committed twice.

In an interview published by ShipBob, UK pet care brand NutriPaw described placing its best-selling SKUs in a Netherlands fulfillment center before planning to expand the range held there. The useful takeaway is the phased approach to inventory, rather than moving every product at once.

Can Your Suppliers Support Small Orders?

Before placing an order, confirm the supplier’s purchasing terms:

  • Can you buy a single unit (MOQ 1)?
  • What minimum quantity qualifies for wholesale pricing?
  • Does the minimum apply to each style, color, or specification, or to the order as a whole?
  • Can you combine different styles in one order?

These terms directly affect your initial inventory investment. For the same selection of SKUs, a mixed order can cost far less than an order that must meet a separate minimum for every variant.

With ZQ, you can buy products we supply directly or ask us to source from other suppliers on your behalf. Single-unit availability, wholesale minimums, and pricing must be confirmed for each product and supplier.

If you already have suppliers, you can purchase directly and have them deliver to our China warehouse. Regardless of where you buy, ZQ can handle the agreed product preparation, consolidated shipping, and fulfillment services that follow.

One distinction matters: a supplier’s purchasing MOQ is separate from ZQ’s shipping requirements. We have no minimum shipping quantity, but suppliers’ own purchasing terms still apply.

How Do You Combine Small Orders from Multiple Suppliers?

When you buy from several suppliers, one stock shipment may contain multiple SKUs in different quantities.

ZQ BulkShip lets you specify a different quantity for each SKU on a single purchase order and consolidate the shipment. For example:

SKUQuantity to Stock
A5 units
B1 unit
C20 units
Total26 units
Buy the quantities you need, from different suppliers if required, and have everything delivered to ZQ’s China warehouse.

We check the SKUs and quantities against your stock shipment details, then carry out the agreed quality checks, labeling, and packing. Once packing is complete, we confirm the shipping quote based on actual weight, dimensions, product type, and route.

This means you do not need to add units of a single product just to build a shipment. Separate purchase orders can travel together, although smaller batches and more frequent replenishment may increase shipping and handling costs per unit. Compare the actual quotes before deciding.

What Does ZQ Add If You Already Use a Freight Forwarder?

If your boxes are ready to ship and you only need them delivered to a specified address, a transport service may be enough.

But goods leaving a supplier are not always ready for the sales channel that will receive them. You may still need quantity checks, product inspections, identification of similar variants, repacking, and platform-specific labels.

When comparing providers, look at the work each one actually handles:

What Needs to Be DoneServices ZQ Can Provide
Confirm sourcing and purchasing termsDirect supply or sourcing on your behalf, with product-specific quantities and pricing confirmed
Receive goods from multiple suppliersConsolidated receiving at our China warehouse, SKU and quantity checks, and agreed quality inspections
Prepare goods for platform warehousesPacking, labeling, and shipment preparation to meet the destination warehouse’s requirements
Ship the consolidated batchConsolidation, bulk shipping, and customs clearance services
Fulfill individual orders from European stockReceiving, storage, picking, packing, and delivery through our Netherlands warehouse
Some forwarding and freight companies also provide labeling, platform warehouse preparation, or customs clearance. A provider’s name alone does not tell you its capabilities. Confirm where its service starts and ends, and which steps you would still need someone else to handle.

ZQ can start with sourcing or receiving goods from your suppliers, prepare the products, and coordinate shipping, customs clearance, and subsequent fulfillment. You can arrange purchasing, warehouse preparation, and dispatch through one coordinated process.

Who Packs and Labels Goods for Amazon, BOL, and Other Platform Warehouses?

Shipping to a platform warehouse also requires preparing the goods to meet its inbound requirements.

For shipments to Amazon, BOL, and similar platform warehouses, we can pack and label goods to the applicable requirements and arrange delivery. Shipments to other platforms follow their specific inbound requirements as well.

You provide the product details, labels, and inbound shipment information so we can confirm the work required. If your supplier has not completed the necessary preparation, we can carry out the agreed work at our China warehouse before shipping.

Your goods do not have to go to ZQ’s Netherlands warehouse. Available destinations include:

  • Amazon, BOL, and other platform warehouses: We prepare the goods to the destination’s requirements and arrange shipping and warehouse delivery.
  • Your chosen warehouse: We organize packing and dispatch according to its receiving requirements.
  • ZQ’s Netherlands warehouse: Once the goods are received, we handle fulfillment of individual customer orders.

Customs clearance services are available for bulk shipments. Customs clearance does not mean all duties and taxes are included. Applicable customs duties, VAT, and other charges must be calculated separately based on the goods and import arrangements.

Do You Need to Move Your Entire Catalog to European Stock?

No. Holding stock in Europe changes your cost structure, which is why each SKU needs its own assessment.

You Pay for Goods and Shipping Before Sales Bring Cash Back In

Stocking ahead means paying for products, international shipping, and warehouse receiving before orders are fulfilled. If inventory sells slowly, cash takes longer to come back, and unsold goods may continue to incur storage charges.

Small orders can reduce the initial outlay, but they still tie up cash. For new products with unpredictable sales, stocking ahead may add costs before it delivers a benefit.

If you prefer not to hold inventory in advance, you can sell first and purchase against confirmed orders. Multiple customer orders bound for the EU can be consolidated into one shipment, then separated for last-mile delivery after entering the EU. ZQ can handle last-mile delivery, or you can arrange local delivery yourself.

This approach requires time to collect orders, purchase the goods, and consolidate the shipment, so it is only suitable for orders with flexible delivery timelines. Include those waiting periods in the delivery estimates you give customers to avoid delays that disrupt your store’s operations.

Slow-Moving Stock Also Costs Money to Resolve

Unsold products may need to be discounted, transferred to another warehouse, shipped back, or handled through another available option. Availability and charges for these services need to be confirmed separately.

Seasonal goods, products that become outdated quickly, and items with a limited shelf life can also lose selling time or require markdowns the longer they sit in storage.

You can therefore stock selected SKUs in Europe while continuing to purchase and ship the rest directly against actual orders.

Does It Still Make Financial Sense After Storage and Handling?

Compare European stock with direct shipping using the same products and destinations, and include the full cost of each approach.

StageMain Costs
Purchasing and preparation in ChinaProducts, domestic delivery to the warehouse, agreed quality checks, labeling, and packing
International shipping and importFreight, customs clearance, and applicable duties and taxes
Receiving and storage in EuropeWarehouse receiving and storage
Fulfilling each orderPicking, packing, and local delivery
Returns and remaining inventoryReturns, ongoing storage, and inventory handling
Your quote should clarify when storage charges begin, the billing unit used, whether multi-item orders attract additional handling fees, and whether packaging materials and returns are charged separately.

Sell-through matters too. Stock that sells quickly has a different storage cost and cash recovery cycle from stock that sits in a warehouse for months. Dividing international freight by the number of units purchased is not enough to establish that each order will cost less.

If some products ship from Netherlands stock while others ship directly, decide in advance how mixed orders will be dispatched, how delivery times will be explained to customers, and what happens when local stock runs out.

Start with Your Purchasing List

To assess whether stocking in Europe makes sense for your business, send us:

  • Product links or specifications;
  • The quantity required for each SKU;
  • Details of your existing suppliers, or the products you need us to source;
  • The destination warehouse and its inbound requirements;
  • Your main customer destinations and target warehouse arrival date.

We use these details to confirm purchasing terms, product preparation requirements, shipping and customs arrangements, and applicable warehouse fulfillment fees.

Whether your goods are going to a platform warehouse, your chosen facility, or ZQ’s Netherlands warehouse, this list gives us a starting point for coordinating sourcing, preparation, shipping, and subsequent order fulfillment.
