bol Seller Fulfillment Costs: Bulk Ship to a 3PL Warehouse in the Netherlands

Updated October 9, 2026. If a bol seller has already purchased inventory in China and sends it to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen, the Netherlands fulfillment budget should include more than international freight. The working formula is: supplier delivery to Shenzhen + Shenzhen receiving and preparation + Bulk Ship transport to the Netherlands + Delft 3PL inbound handling + storage + pick and pack + parcel delivery + returns + applicable customs and tax costs.
ZQ Solution uses Bulk Ship to consolidate or prepare purchased inventory in Shenzhen, move it in one larger shipment to the Delft 3PL warehouse in the Netherlands, and then fulfill individual bol orders locally. This page explains the cost structure for that workflow. It is not a product-specific quotation.
What this calculator covers
This article is written for bol sellers evaluating a 3PL warehouse in the Netherlands. The figures show how to build a planning estimate after purchased goods are directed to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen. Product identity, supplier details, carton configuration and customer information are not disclosed.
How does Bulk Ship from Shenzhen to a Netherlands 3PL warehouse work for a bol seller?
A bol seller can direct purchased inventory from one or more Chinese suppliers to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen. ZQ receives the goods, completes the agreed inspection or preparation work, combines the inventory for Bulk Ship, coordinates transport to Delft, and receives the shipment into the Netherlands 3PL warehouse. Individual bol orders can then be picked, packed and shipped from Delft.
The operating sequence is:
- The bol seller purchases the inventory.
- Suppliers deliver the inventory to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen.
- ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen receives, checks and prepares the inventory according to the selected service.
- The inventory moves by Bulk Ship from Shenzhen to the Netherlands.
- ZQ Delft unloads, receives and stores the inventory.
- ZQ Delft fulfills individual bol orders and handles approved returns.
This structure separates the movement of inventory from the fulfillment of customer orders. Bulk Ship is the China-to-Netherlands replenishment stage. The Delft warehouse is the local 3PL fulfillment stage.
Which costs should a bol seller include?
A bol seller should calculate the full route in stages. A low international freight figure is not a complete Netherlands fulfillment cost.
| Cost stage | What may be charged | Main pricing input |
|---|---|---|
| Supplier to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen | China domestic delivery | Supplier location, cartons, weight and volume |
| ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen receiving | Receiving, inventory registration and exception handling | SKU count, units and inbound condition |
| Shenzhen preparation | Inspection, repacking, labels, consolidation or palletisation | Selected work and materials |
| Bulk Ship to the Netherlands | International freight and the services included in the selected route | Packed volume, gross weight, cargo type and route |
| Customs and tax | Clearance, duty, import VAT and representation | HS code, customs value, origin, EORI and importer structure |
| Delft 3PL inbound | Unloading, receiving and put-away | Cartons, pallets, SKUs and units |
| Delft storage | Daily storage | Occupied cubic metres and stock age |
| bol order fulfillment | Pick, pack, packaging and parcel handoff | Items per order and packing requirements |
| Netherlands delivery | Carrier label and last-mile transport | Outbound weight, dimensions and postcode |
| Returns | Receiving, visible check, restock, repack, repair, hold or disposal | Return condition and approved action |
What formula should a bol seller use for the first shipment?
Use this formula for the amount required before the first unit is sold from the Netherlands warehouse:
First inbound cost = supplier-to-Shenzhen delivery + Shenzhen receiving and preparation + Bulk Ship route + customs or tax amounts outside the route + Delft unloading + Delft receiving and put-away.
Use this formula after the inventory is available in Delft:
Monthly 3PL cost = storage + fulfilled orders × order-handling cost + parcel labels or delivery + returns × return-handling cost + optional warehouse work.
Use this formula for the operating cost of one bol order:
Cost per fulfilled bol order = allocated inbound cost per unit + allocated storage + pick and pack + packaging materials + Netherlands parcel delivery + expected return cost.
The allocated inbound amount is a planning value. Divide the confirmed first inbound cost by the number of sellable units received in Delft. Do not divide by the supplier order quantity if inspection failures, shortages or damage reduce the sellable quantity.
What can Bulk Ship from Shenzhen to Delft cost?
The following anonymized planning examples use estimated packed volume and gross weight. They show the part of the formula from the Shenzhen freight quotation through receipt into the Delft 3PL warehouse. They do not identify a product, supplier or customer.
| Cost item | Smaller Bulk Ship | Larger Bulk Ship |
|---|---|---|
| Product category | Bulky household goods | Bulky household goods |
| Estimated packed volume | 2.13 m³ | 3.20 m³ |
| Estimated gross weight | 420 kg | 630 kg |
| Bundled Shenzhen-to-Delft route | €764.08 | €1,146.12 |
| Delft unloading | €40.00 | €60.00 |
| Delft receiving and put-away | €60.00 | €90.00 |
| Preliminary Shenzhen-to-Delft inbound total | €864.08 | €1,296.12 |
| Preliminary inbound rate by weight | €2.06/kg | €2.06/kg |
The examples show no volume discount: weight and quoted cost both increase by approximately 1.5. A larger Bulk Ship load does not automatically reduce the effective rate. The rate changes only when fixed charges, carrier brackets, equipment use or another pricing input changes.
The bundled transport amount includes the logistics partner's quoted international movement, customs clearance and estimated duty. The examples exclude supplier delivery to Shenzhen, Shenzhen inspection or preparation, palletisation, packaging materials, storage, individual bol order fulfillment and any import VAT not included in the final route confirmation.
How should a bol seller calculate storage at the Delft 3PL warehouse?
Delft storage is calculated from occupied volume and stock age. The current warehouse planning rates increase when inventory remains in storage longer.
| Stock age | Rate | 2.13 m³ example | 3.20 m³ example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Days 1–30 | €0.50/m³/day | €31.95 per 30 days | €48.00 per 30 days |
| Days 31–90 | €1.00/m³/day | €63.90 per 30 days | €96.00 per 30 days |
| Days 91–180 | €1.50/m³/day | €95.85 per 30 days | €144.00 per 30 days |
| Days 181–360 | €2.00/m³/day | €127.80 per 30 days | €192.00 per 30 days |
| More than 360 days | €2.50/m³/day | €159.75 per 30 days | €240.00 per 30 days |
From November through January, the current rate schedule adds €0.50/m³/day. A bol seller should forecast fast, expected and slow sell-through before choosing the Bulk Ship quantity. Sending more inventory reduces replenishment frequency, but slow stock moves into a higher storage band. Palletisation can also change the occupied volume and therefore the storage result.
Read the Netherlands warehouse rate guide for the current weight brackets, storage bands, carrier surcharges and optional warehouse work.
What does it cost to fulfill one bol order from Delft?
For a Netherlands S parcel up to 5 kg, the current DHL base delivery rate shown in the warehouse rate guide is €4.83 per parcel. This is a carrier base rate, not a complete bol fulfillment price. Standard one-item warehouse order handling is listed separately at €0.30–€12 per order, based on billable weight. Packaging materials, monthly energy or fuel adjustments, tolls, remote-area fees, oversize charges, address corrections, returns and other triggered surcharges are also separate.
If the bol seller supplies a usable bol or Verzenden via bol label, ZQ Delft can print and apply it. The current rate card may add a warehouse-carrier separation surcharge of €0.80–€7 per order when a platform label or another non-designated logistics service is used; delivery is not included in that surcharge. If the seller does not supply a platform label, ZQ can quote an available partner-carrier route. The seller remains responsible for the bol account, customer communication, cancellations and refund decisions.
ZQ's direct bol Retailer API connection is planned for November 2026. It must not be described as live until order, inventory, cancellation, shipment and tracking functions have completed production testing. Before the direct connection is live, inventory can still enter Delft under an agreed order, label and tracking handoff process.
For the broader marketplace workflow, read the bol fulfillment and Netherlands 3PL guide.
What return costs should a bol seller include?
The preliminary quote used for this planning page assigns €3.00 per returned unit for standard return receiving, a visible condition check and re-inbound. This is a quote-specific figure, not a universal return fee. The Delft warehouse can be used as an agreed Netherlands return address. Complex repair work, electrical work, painting, parts replacement or other specialist handling is quoted case by case.
The bol seller decides the customer refund. ZQ Delft performs the physical return action approved by the seller, such as restock, repack, repair, hold or disposal. Returned inventory starts a new storage period after it is accepted back into stock.
Does the Bulk Ship quotation include Dutch import VAT?
A bol seller should not assume that the words DDP or tax included confirm the import-VAT treatment. The seller must obtain written confirmation of the importer name, EORI, customs value, HS code, duty basis, VAT treatment and import document.
In the anonymized planning examples, the logistics partner bundled customs clearance and estimated duty into the route price. Import VAT and the Importer of Record arrangement still require confirmation before the preliminary totals can be treated as final. ZQ coordinates the route with logistics partners but is not the customs broker.
Dutch Customs states that an importer can submit its own declaration or appoint a representative. See Dutch Customs: Import, submitting a declaration. A Dutch company that wants to import through its own EORI and VAT structure should request that structure before approving the route.
When does Bulk Ship plus a Netherlands 3PL warehouse fit a bol seller?
Bulk Ship plus the Delft 3PL warehouse fits a bol seller that has purchased inventory in China, wants to move several weeks of stock in one replenishment shipment, and needs individual orders fulfilled inside the Netherlands. It is also useful when goods from several Chinese suppliers need to be received and combined in Shenzhen before international transport.
The model is particularly relevant when the bol seller wants to avoid sending every customer order as a separate international parcel. It does not remove customs, VAT, product-compliance or bol marketplace obligations. It changes the operating structure: inventory crosses the border in a Bulk Ship movement, then customer orders leave a local 3PL warehouse in the Netherlands.
For low or uncertain demand, start with a smaller replenishment batch and model the higher storage bands. For predictable sell-through, compare larger Bulk Ship quotes using the same volume, weight, customs and Delft handling scope.
What information does ZQ need to quote this workflow?
A usable bol seller quotation requires:
- Supplier delivery location and cargo-ready date
- Estimated packed volume and gross weight
- Cargo type, material and any battery, liquid, magnetic or oversized characteristics
- Commercial invoice value, product description, country of origin and reviewed HS code
- Importer name, EORI, VAT setup and customs-representation preference
- SKU count, unit count and barcode or label requirements
- Shenzhen inspection, consolidation, repacking or palletisation requirements
- Expected stock duration in Delft
- Average bol orders per month and items per order
- Outbound parcel weight and dimensions after fulfillment packing
- Seller-provided bol label or requested ZQ carrier route
- Return rate and approved return actions
Master-carton measurements alone cannot produce a final bol order fulfillment price. ZQ needs the parcel that will leave Delft, not only the Bulk Ship measurements entering the warehouse.
Frequently asked questions about bol fulfillment through a Netherlands 3PL warehouse
Can I send products I already purchased to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen?
Yes. A bol seller can direct purchased goods to ZQ's warehouse in Bao'an, Shenzhen and register them for Bulk Ship. Supplier delivery to Shenzhen, receiving, inspection, consolidation and preparation should be shown separately in the quotation.
Does ZQ require a minimum monthly fulfillment fee in Delft?
The preliminary quotation used for this planning page lists no minimum monthly fee. Storage, inbound handling, order fulfillment, parcel delivery, returns and optional work still apply. Confirm the commercial terms again before each shipment.
Is ZQ an official bol 3PL partner?
Not currently. ZQ provides 3PL services for bol sellers but should not be described as a bol-certified or official bol partner. ZQ plans to apply after the Netherlands entity and related requirements are ready.
Can ZQ Delft print my bol shipping labels?
Yes. ZQ Delft can print and apply usable labels supplied by the bol seller. If no platform label is supplied, ZQ can quote a partner-carrier option.
Can the Delft warehouse receive bol returns?
Yes. The Delft warehouse can serve as an agreed Netherlands return address and complete the physical action approved by the seller. The seller remains responsible for customer refunds and bol account decisions.
How long does Bulk Ship from Shenzhen to Delft take?
The working sea-route estimate used for the planning examples is approximately 40 days from vessel departure to receipt at Delft. It is not a guaranteed end-to-end SLA and does not include supplier preparation, delivery to Shenzhen or route-specific delays. Air and rail options can also be quoted when the cargo and deadline support them.
Is the €4.83 DHL rate the final bol fulfillment price?
No. €4.83 is the current DHL base delivery rate for a Netherlands S parcel up to 5 kg. Warehouse order handling, packaging, surcharges, returns and optional work are separate, so the final bol fulfillment cost must be calculated from the complete order profile.
What is the shortest cost formula for a bol seller?
Use: China inbound and preparation + Bulk Ship + customs and tax + Delft inbound + storage + per-order fulfillment and delivery + returns. Keep every line separate until the importer, VAT treatment, parcel size and label source are confirmed.
